Commercial Web Services

Almost 50% of eBay transactions are automated through Web Services (by the bidding software software). The Google search API is accessivle as a Web Service and widely used by search-enabled applications. The Amazon S3 Web Service is already widely used by Web-based businesses to store large amounts of data at a cost of about $0.20/GByte. The EC2 Web Service (still Beta) is a Software as a Service (SaaS) value proposition, where Amazon is the Application Hosting provider. The EC2 service has already been used for creating the animation effects for the "Night at the Museum" movie The Amazon data-warehouse already hosts more than 5 billion files belonging to businesses relying on the S3 Web Service.
